Each year we prepare a large donation to deliver on her birthday. Well due to hospital construction and things we were forced to wait a few months to make it happen. Last weekend we were able to make our 10th Birthday drop off, thus kicking off our 10th year of giving.

We made drop offs in the Chapel, NICU, and Playroom. It was a big day and we are so grateful for our continued partnership with Kapiolani Medical Center.
We began 2 new projects this year, both of which are represented in our drop off.
Sibling surprise bags, which are small tote bags filled with boredom buster toys for young siblings (5 years and younger) who have a sibling in the NICU.
Sibling Surprise bags were developed by a Girl Scout troop from Ewa Hawaii for use with our other projects. Above you see most of the troop and a couple of the siblings who received the first bags that were dropped off.
Our second new project was inspired by a Big Island Momma who has been doing it for a few months. These are small blankets, about the size of a hanky wrapped up to look like a swaddled blanket for moms who experience a miscarriage. These were donated through the Hospitals Chaplain service to be given out as the need comes.
They are the perfect size for throwing in a bag or purse for whenever tears happen, which is not always expected. They are felt on one side and a cotton on the other. This project does not have a name yet but will soon.
